The New Zealand Catholic Medical Association (NZCMA) was founded in 2019 with the support of the New Zealand Catholic Bishops Conference. It aims to support health practitioners, drawing on the treasures of our faith, especially in regard to the ethical challenges of healthcare today.
A chaplain will help guide us in faith development as we learn and reflect on our calling and vocation. We hope to support one another, develop networks and provide practical resources for members. In time we would also like to form links with our colleagues in neighbouring Pacific nations.
The inaugural meeting in Auckland was held in May 2019, with an opening blessing from Bishop Patrick Dunn. We met in Christchurch in September that year. Each meeting includes the celebration of Mass and opportunity for reconciliation.
After the restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic we are now able to organise another get-together.
Our meetings are open to all those who work in healthcare or in roles which support healthcare such as administration or health leadership. While there is particular emphasis on supporting doctors, we also wish to extend an invitation to nurses, midwives, pharmacists, physiotherapist, occupational therapists, counsellors, social workers, chaplains, dentists, health administrators, lawyers, medical students, researchers, educators and anyone who works in allied roles.

The 3 Most Common Errors With Payments:
- Please ensure that you enter the 3-digit CVC code in the area provided after the card expiry date. (On some devices with smaller screens, this area is hidden until you have entered the card expiry date.)
- Please make sure that the Zip/Postal code you enter in the payment section, is the same as is used for your credit card’s registered billing address. (This helps prevent credit card fraud by verifying with your billing address.)
- We recommend using either the Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox browsers to view this website and also suggest registering from a desktop/laptop computer instead of using a mobile phone if you have any other issues. (This helps to eliminate most potential problems caused by the many different combinations of device types and outdated software.)
If you’ve double-checked the above suggestions and you’re still experiencing any difficulties with the registration form, please contact us directly by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
